Vietnam Family Vacation

Shared experiences are important for bonding and creating lifelong memories and are an integral part of our family oriented tours. Family members select from a balanced set of unique and fun and exciting activities and adventures compiled so to balance family time as well as alone time for the adults to recharge and reconnect, and for children to explore.

One of the most effective ways to discover a culture is to start with its cuisine. Few countries in the world reward a culinary adventure more than Vietnam. As the country is divided into 3 distinct regions with different kinds of weather, geography, and history, the dishes also differ in ingredients, tastes, and flavors, representing the soul of each region and the locals’ way of life. Tours for families present new food in a fun, exciting and engaging way that will make even the pickiest eaters want to try new things.

When selecting hotels, our tour designers consider location, space, activities, and staff with a focus on the whole family. Some of our families prefer fewer hotels than a regular tour, so they can unpack and have a “home base.”

Explore Hanoi by bike

During this bike tour, we explore the countryside and the culture of Hanoi. Our cycling adventure starts at the hotel. We bike through the busy old street to Long Bien Bridge, exploring villages by the Red river and getting a feeling of local life, far away from the sights and the sounds of the busy city. We go to the West Lake and visit the Red River bank.

Meet our guide at your hotel. We bike along the busy streets of Hanoi old quarter.

First visit is on Long Bien Bridge, a symbol of the tenacity and resilience of the Hanoian people. The Long Bien Bridge (built between 1899 and 1902) was bombed several times during the American War, but was each time quickly repaired by the Vietnamese people.

Then we will ride through different banana plantations near the Red River.

We take a tour around the vegetable fields, growing a big variety of products including: bitter melon, corn, cauliflower, cabbage, tomatoes, green peas, snake peas and corn, as well as fruit gardens with oranges, pommels, papaya and more (depending on the season to grow different crops).

Enjoy local lunch at a Pho Cuon Restaurant in Ngu Xa street then we continue to the West Lake, which is the biggest freshwater lake of the northwest center of Hanoi. Visit Tran Quoc pagoda and Quan Thanh temple and then drive to Red River Flower garden “Bai Da Song Hong” then ride back to your hotel.

Bike back to your hotel. Tour ends here.

Hanoi - Phu Lang village - Dai Bai village - Hanoi

Phu Lang is one of the three ancient pottery centers of the Northern Delta region, which was formed and developed about 900 years ago with traditional handicraft products and appliances.

These days, ceramics used in Phu Lang are believed to be present in a number of historical sites in the Red River delta, such as communal houses, temples, pagodas… Moreover, Phu Lang pottery village still keeps its pristine features and the lives of people here are as rustic as materials of ceramics.

The ceramic village of Phu Lang retains the simple beauty and peaceful atmosphere of many years ago, with its narrow zigzag lanes, red brick walls, and unchanging scenes of rural Vietnam. Phu Lang has become a tourist attraction to both local and foreign visitors.

08.00 AM: pick up at your hotel, then we transfer to Phu Lang village.

Upon arrival, we walk along the rural village lanes, learning and seeing the way how pottery is made, and we see clever techniques of local artisans. On the way, we call in a local family, have an interesting talk with locals over how the pottery plays an important roll in their daily life. We enjoy in the meantime a delicious cup of green tea. You may also experience making your own pottery products to give to your friends as a gift. It would be an incredible experience during your travel journey around Vietnam.

Have a real Vietnamese lunch at the local house.

In the afternoon, we take a local ferry through Cau River to Dai Bai Village, which nationwide has been well-known for its bronze casting tradition for over 1000 years.  Have a gentle cycling tour around the peaceful countryside. We go to a famous artisan house and see its several amazing works made from bronze.

Afterwards, we return the bike and transfer back to Hanoi.

During this tour, you will have opportunity to visit a local market, have a look at Vietnamese farmers while they are working, chat with hospitable people, cook their traditional dishes and share peaceful moments with the Ms. Manh family. Leaving the peaceful village, we come back to the city center, at slow-pace and enjoy the charming environment, with lovely landscapes and lakes. It is the most famous market in the region where many traditional items are for sale. If on market days (two or three times per week, on other days this market is not too crowded), people from all the surrounding villages would come here to trade. People bring dogs, cats, pigs, chickens, ducks, and bamboo baskets to sell. Everyone is excited to meet each other on that day. You will be surprised about this bustling and colorful market which is working under the canopy of the old tree. You will see old women chewing betel and areca nut and blacksmiths working hard with their bright brazier. Right next to the market is a nice vegetable farm. We take a tour around vegetable fields, where varieties of products are grown, including: bitter melon, corn, cauliflower, cabbage, tomatoes, green peas, snake peas and corn, as well as fruit gardens with oranges, pomelos, papaya and more (depending on the season to grow different crops)., You will learn more about the background of vegetables and you may have a chance to help a farmer working on his field.
