This afternoon, we take a walking tour of the old town Hoi An. Hoi An nestled on the banks of the Thu Bon River. Before the river silted up, Hoi An was one of the most important trading ports in Southeast Asia and a center for East-West exchange and trade. From the 2nd until the 10th century, Hoi An was one of the principal Cham cities. Over the years, Indian, Dutch, Portuguese, French, Thai, Indonesian, Spanish, American, Japanese, Filipino, and Chinese ships docked in Hoi An. In the 19th century, as the result of warfare and environmental changes, Hoi An was replaced by Da Nang as a major port. Reflecting the diversity of the traders and missionaries that settled in the port (including Alexander of Rhodes), the ancient architecture is a fascinating mix of Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese. The rooftops of Hoi An retain a magical old-world Oriental feel and are a favorite subject for Vietnamese artists. In the early 1980s, Hoi An’s ancient quarters and historical monuments came under the protection and restoration efforts of UNESCO and the Polish government. Visit the Japanese covered bridge, Phuc Kien assemble Hall, Phung Hung Old house, Hoi An Museum, Quan Cong Temple, and Hoi An Market.

The rest of the time is free at your leisure.

Please do not forget to try special local food in Hoi An such as Banh My Phuong – Madame Phuong bread (once visited by the great Anthony Bourdain), Cao Lau, Mi Quang (Quang noodle), Banh Xeo, Com Ga (Rice chicken). (Suggested: Bale Well restaurant)…

05:30 - 05:45: Meet you at your hotel then we take the boat trip along Thu Bon River.

A cruise on Thu Bon River helps you indulge in the relaxing beautiful surrounding landscape and witness the rural life on the river. The tour shows you how the local fishermen cast their nets, and watch the Hoi An fishing fleet returning from a hard night’s work. Then we visit the nearby fish market. One of the beautiful spots of the market is at the waterfront, where you can see all the busy activities of people buying and loading fish from the boats. It is very noisy, hurried, and crowded, but everyone tries their best to get the best deal of the day. The boat anchor, one next to the other, like a big floating market connected to the shore. There are lots of photo opportunities in this area. Back to the town at 8 am. Free time for breakfast at the hotel.
