Itinerary

Day 1: Hanoi arrival

Upon arrival at the airport, our tour guide and driver will pick you up and transfer you to the hotel.

Check-in time 14:00. You are free at leisure for the rest of the day.

Day 2: Hanoi city tour (B)

Today, we will visit:

  • The Ho Chi Minh complex, including the One Pillar Pagoda, the former leader’s house on stilts, and his Mausoleum (outside).
  • Thang Long Citadel (the most recent UNESCO World Heritage Site of Vietnam), built in the 11th century by the Ly Viet Dynasty, marking the independence of the Dai Viet (former Vietnam)
  • The peaceful Temple of Literature - the first university of Vietnam.
  • Continue on, visit the train street, Dong Xuan market and start our street food tour in Ta Hien – Luong Ngoc Quyen – Hang Giay – Dao Duy Tu streets, where shows many kinds of local and traditional dishes. Here, you will have a chance to try Bun Cha (a type of noodle soup with pork BBQ).  All of the preparation and content is explained by the guide. The guide also tells the daily life of the common Vietnamese, experiencing something that the Vietnamese used a lot in cooking, dried foods, spices and fresh herbs. You also have chance to taste the Hanoi's specialties Banh Cuon– the dish that made from a thin, wide sheet of steamed rice. This is one of the most famous dishes in Ha Noi and has been along with Hanoian for years. The tour ends with a cup of Egg Coffee or Ice Coffee at Yen coffee, next to Hoan Kiem lake.

The rest of the time is free at your leisure.

Day 3: Hanoi – Tu Le (B/L)

In the morning our guide and driver pick you up at hotel and drive you to west of Hanoi following the national way – No.32 to Nghia Lo district of Yen Bai province. En route is the chance for you to see and admire beautiful scenery of Vietnam mountains.

Arrive at Nghia Lo town, stop for lunch then continue driving to Tu Le.

Tu Le is a little town located a beautiful valley at the foot of Khau Pha Pass. Upon arrival, we get ready for a soft trek to the rice valley and visit some villages. Taking photographs and meeting local people.

Day 4: Tu Le – Mu Cang Chai trek (B/L)

We start our drive up the famous Khau Pha Pass. This mountain pass is known for terraced rice paddies. The scenery over the valley from the pass is so stunning at the rice reason, especially during the harvesting time. We will have some stops for photo opportunities on the way to Mu Cang Chai. Start a whole day trek to enjoy Vietnam’s national rice terrace heritage. Our trek will start from Che Cu Nha commune to La Pan Tan Commune. This trek will definitely offer us a good opportunity to see the main spots and admire the beauty of the amazing rice terraces that Mu Cang Chai has to offer. We will also be able to visit a few villages of the Hmong hill tribe scattered in the area. Get picked up by our private vehicle then transfer to Mu Cang Chai Ecolodge.

Day 5: Mu Cang Chai – Hanoi (B)

After breakfast, we will check out of the room and make our way back to Hanoi. Lunch on the way. Arrive in Hanoi late in the afternoon. Finish the tour at your hotel in Hanoi.

Day 6: Hanoi – Ha Long bay (B, L, D)

8.30: Our driver will pick you up from the hotel then transsfer to Ha Long bay.

11.30 – 12.00: Arrive to Waiting Lounge at Indochina Junk office

12:30 – 13:15: Cruise begins with welcome drink and safety briefing.

13.30 –15.00: Have lunch while cruising to magnificent Bai Tu Long Bay; admire the fascinating formations on the way.

15.15 – 15.40 : Explore the well- hidden Thien Canh Son Cave.

15.45 – 18.00 : Enjoy relaxing on a white sandy beach at Hon Co Island, swimming or kayaking.

18.00 – 19.00: Back to junk for refreshing before having dinner on board.

20.00 – 21.00: Relax, and enjoy fresh air & overnight on board.

Day 7: Ha Log bay – Hanoi – Fly to Da Nang – Hoi An (B, L)

07.30 – 08.00: Morning view of Bay’s landscape with a cup of tea or coffee. Have breakfast in the fresh air.

08.30 – 09.30: Visit Vung Vieng fishing village by a rustic rowboat, meet the local people, and pass through the floating school and fish farms.

10.00: Check out of the cabin. Start cruising towards the harbor while an A La Carte is served.

Transfer directly to the airport for your flight to Da Nang at 17:00.

Upon arrival in Da Nang, our tour guide will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel in Hoi An.

Day 8: Hoi An sunrise boat trip & Hoi An town (B)

05:30: Meet you at your hotel then we take the boat trip along Thu Bon River.

A cruise on Thu Bon River helps you indulge in the relaxing beautiful surrounding landscape and witness the rural life on the river. The tour shows you how the local fishermen cast their nets, and watch the Hoi An fishing fleet returning from a hard night’s work. Then we visit the nearby fish market. One of the beautiful spots of the market is at the waterfront, where you can see all the busy activities of people buying and loading fish from the boats. It is very noisy, hurried and crowded, but everyone tries their best to get the best deal of the day. The boat anchor, one next to the other, like a big floating market connected to the shore. There are lots of photo opportunities in this area. Back to the town at 8 am. Free time for breakfast at the hotel.

This afternoon, we continue to take a walking tour of the old town Hoi An. Visit the Japanese covered bridge, Phuc Kien assemble hall, Phung Hung old house, Hoi An museum, and Quan Cong temple. The rest of the time is free to walk in the old town, feel the atmosphere of its original culture, enjoy shopping for tailor clothing, lanterns, shoes and food, or simply relaxing on the beach.

Please do not forget to try special local food in Hoi An such as Banh My Phuong – Madame Phuong bread (once visited by the great Anthony Bourdain), Cao Lau, Mi Quang (Quang noodle), Banh Xeo, Com Ga (Rice chicken). (Suggested: Bale Well restaurant), Grilled chicken or grilled fish (suggested restaurant: Xanh quán – 138 Trần Quang Khải – please book in advance).

Day 9: Hoi An bicycle tour – Check out/ Transfer to Da Nang beach (B)

Our guide will you at the hotel’s lobby and take you by bicycle through the tiny village lanes to the river where you can learn about the daily life of the local people. Keep cycling through the corn fields, rice fields, water coconut forest, and the lakes of shrimp and crab farms. On the way, we will visit houses for worshipping ancestors and houses of handicraftsmen such as blacksmiths, carpenters, and masons where you can learn many unusual things about life in Hoi An. Ride back to your hotel.

In the afternoon, we transfer to Da Nang beach. Check into a resort then have free time to relax.

Day 10: Da Nang free time (B)

A full day is a free time to relax on the beach. No services are provided on this day. Only breakfast and accommodation have been booked in advance.

Day 13: Da Nang - Fly to Ho Chi Minh city (B)

In the morning, we transfer to Da Nang airport (private transfer, no guide) for an onward flight to Ho Chi Minh City, the former Saigon. Arrive at the airport, and you are welcomed by our tour guide and transferred to the hotel.

Day 14: Ho Chi Minh city (B)

Today, you will literally feel the excitement of Ho Chi Minh City.

First, we visit the Reunification Palace, the former palace of President Thieu and his predecessors. Today this building is a museum and venue for official receptions. Inside you can visit the private rooms of the president, the “War Room” from where the South Vietnamese forces were controlled, and, most poignantly, the room where the North Vietnamese army finally took control in 1975. Next, we visit the War Remnants Museum, Historically, the war museum as part of the Vietnam and World Peace museums system was born on Sep 4 1975 at 28 Vo Van Tan street, district 3, HCMC. Since its 30-year inception, the museum has attracted over 10 million arrivals of domestic and foreign tourists, especially, student delegations from provinces and cities nationwide. It helps reappear the then-wars, helping students well realize on the values of patriotism, struggle for peace and national liberation from forefathers. This museum includes 8 specific exhibitions and various collections of the truth of history (conspiracy and process from hostile forces for the war in Vietnam); crime evidences and war consequences; kinds of weapons and tools serving for the wars; prison (prison house system, concentration camp, torture, maltreatment, corporal mutilation and spiritual oppression against political prisoners).

Continue on, and visit the Fito museum. Fito Museums are a couple of the first private museums in Vietnam which are devoted to Traditional Vietnamese Medicine & Pharmacy.

Later on, visit the Notre Dame Cathedral and Old Post Office. The post office, built between 1877 and 1883, is an excellent example of classic French colonial architecture. In deference to the Chinese heritage, you will also visit Thien Hau Pagoda, built in 1863 by the ethnic Chinese of Saigon and dedicated to the Goddess of the Sea.

The rest of the time is free at the leisure for shopping at the malls, Sai Gon Square or buying souvenirs at Ben Thanh market.

Day 15: Ho Chi Minh - Cu Chi (B)

In the morning, we drive 70 kilometers North West to explore the underground tunnels in Cu Chi which system had been created long time back, from 1948 to assist Viet Minh in the combat with French. It was continuing built over 25 years later. It was an underground city with living areas, kitchens, storage, weapons factories, field hospitals, command centers. In places, it was housed up to 10,000 people who virtually lived underground for years… getting married, giving birth. During the American War the entire area of Cu Chi was designated a free fire zone and was heavily bombarded. From 1988, two sections of tunnels have been open for visitors.

You may even have a chance to crawl through the tunnels yourself. We return to Saigon in the late afternoon.

Day 16: Ho Chi Minh departure (B)

We will pick you up at your hotel and then transfer you to the airport for the departure flight.
